…..from the County Fair!
Of course they don’t want hurt feelings so everyone walks away with a ribbon of sorts (typically the white 3rd place ribbons).
We did end up with a lot of blue and red ribbons and even one pink ribbon. Money is also given as a prize.
Nicole got 2nd for her embroidered pillow case (adult category).
Jaime got 1st on her embroidered pillow case. 2nd on her apron (the red under her pillow case). Both of hers were in the adult category.
Ashley got 2nd on her beaded jewelry. She got first on her knitted afghan and also Reserve Champion (there is more detail up close…it looks woven). She had given this afghan to Robert for a Christmas present and borrowed it back for the fair. She was in the youth category. Next year she’ll be with the “big kids”.
Austin got 1st on his afghan. He did this on a knitting loom in three sections then sewed the sections together. He got 2nd on his latch hook American Bear. He gave the bear to Brandy for her birthday and then borrowed it back to enter.
Tiffany got 3rd on her fleece blanket. The blue background on the other photos is the reverse side of her blanket. She got points deducted because of the color combination. Apparently someone didn’t care for that.
Cody got 1st on his “bag”. This is something he made up on his own on a knitting loom. He also got 1st for his plaster-of-paris fossil.
Tawny got 2nd on her plaster-of-paris fossil. She got 3rd on her fleece Nemo pillow.
Hailey got 2nd on her fleece pillow and 3rd on her cross-stitch bib.
Megan got 3rd on her cross stitch cat in the frame and 3rd on her fleece pillow.
Max got 2nd on his plaster-of-paris fossil and 3rd on his fleece pillow.
Remind me next year not to let the kids have the same project in the same age category. They kind of go against each other when they do that.
Charlie carved a couple of wooden knives for Max for his birthday. He made a double leather sheath with belt for them. He got 1st place. He didn’t bring it over today to get pictures.
Donald chose not to enter anything this year.
They are all already thinking of ideas for next year’s county fair.
Do you or your kids enter things in the fair? I never have but thought it would be fun for the kids.
